The Silence of the Lambs
I typed the words "Buffalo Bill" two reviews ago and immediately had to watch this movie. Buffalo Bill is such a unique antagonist! As someone who is part of the LGBT+ community, you empathize for trans people, but damn! Billie ain't gotta be doin all that. Also, Clarice looks and acts totally gay!! I guess men didn't (and still don't most of the time) care. Like she was hit on so many times by men in the movie, and don't get me wrong, she is gorgeous! But it was pretty obvious that she played lots of softball in college? Anthony Hopkins is also such a great actor. His role in this movie with Jodie Foster was just tooooo good. She plays such a good innocent character and Hannibal is like "bitch, I wanna eat you...." I will say, I have seen an even dispersion of cannibalism between men and women in the world of horror and that pleases me. It's a very gender-neutral activity! The scene where poor Catherine is down in that well (I think that's her name?) and starts screaming and Buffalo Bill just screams back hahahaaaa sends me soaring. I think horror movies are truly comedies in so many ways. Like in real life, no, it would not be funny, but in a movie it's funny! I think a lot of people would agree that this is the best movie in the Hannibal series. The book is phenomenal as well. It was smart to set up the movie for the sequel focusing more on Hannibal's life. I have only seen that movie once and I do not remember anything from it so that will be a review for later!
