A Nightmare on Elm Street
Lolllll every time I think about this movie I think about the ending. It is by far one of the funniest endings to a horror movie (or any movie) to ever exist. Between the Freddy mobile taking them kids away and the mom just getting pulled through the window door like nothing...man...gets me rolling. This movie stands the test of time for a good reason though. It's not only little Depp's first movie, but this was one of the most "gruesome" looking monsters to grace the screen for that time. Like they trieddddd to make some of the moments nasty with the worms and guts really trying to do the most. I feel like horror movies in the 80s were def trying to break into that space a bit more. I am a 90s kid so I think I was a bit more desensitized to violence, but I can imagine being a kid/teenager in the 80s and watching this film for the first time and it actually affecting me. Kreuger is another character like Chucky and Pennywise who is actually very comical and they use that to make the violence he commits a bittttt more off putting. I mean he's a funny character as in he actually goofy, but he diddddd kill kids back in the day. I realllllly loved some of the scenes where the kids are clearly having nightmares and the voice of Freddy takes place of the voices of other people they know. That was wayyyyyyy more creepy than the actual visual elements, although I am not complaining! The movie leaves people wondering was Freddy actually not killed? I mean how do you kill a vengeful spirit I guess...
I couldn't find a star rating so I guess I'll do the tomatometer (which is prob better anyways) 84%
My rating: 4 out of 5 stars
