Smile 2

Anytime singing or a celebrity-type character is involved in a movie I tend to think the movie will only focus on the music and the story will suck. This is the case for some movies...but not this one. This movie fucking slapped for me. I don't know if I would say it's better than the original Smile, but it def at the same level. I think they did a great job making the entire movie so unsettling and the jump scares were suuuuuuper good (especially seeing it in theaters). The movie went into more depth of the monster that feeds off trauma rather than the first movie which was basically figuring out what the hell was going on. The main actor who played Skye did such a good freaking job at being that self-involved pop star (except she had a lot of legit shit going on that actually needed attention). The best part about this movie was the end where you find out her friend wasn't actually with her the entire time and the monster winning in the end. I love when the villains win to be honest. Monsters need to eat too! So, I guess the entire crowd was affected by the trauma after Skye offed herself, but that monster can prob inhabit a single host. Maybe a Smile 3 in the making of someone who had attended the concert and the story carrying on???? I doubt this is the last we will see from the Smile universe. This movie made me want another sequel. Perhaps this will be a Smile trilogy.

My rating: 5 out of 5 stars....feeling generous, but this movie did a great job.
