This was a completely different story than the original! I almost prefer that this one had a different story because the original was soooooo good. This movie did not weigh in as heavy on the suspense as the Danish version. This one was more action packed for sure. Ok, so huge differences...first, Patrick's wife is implied to be a prisoner herself and was once a victim of Patrick (so she was abducted at a young age I guess). Second, Ant (Abel in the first film) is way more active in this movie. He is shown trying to indicate what is really going on a lot more than Abel did in the first movie. I think Abel only showed his mouth...he def didn't take Agnes down to an underground room under the chicken coop to show her a bunch of missing belongings from people. The BIGGEST difference is how the two stories ended! COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. One the antagonist wins in the first and the protagonist in the second. The parents literally get stoned to death in the Danish version after their child gets their tongue cut out and abducted. The second movie the parents and the kids get away! Oh yeah! Abel survives in the second movie! Abel was killed and thrown into pool (or did he drown in there because he can't swim?) in the first movie. Abel alsooooo completely obliterates Patrick's face with a brick before escaping with Bjorn's family. I can't remember if his name is Bjorn in the second movie now that I think about it haha. I def prefer the Danish version of this movie, but this one really wasn't that bad and I can see it being people's cup of tea over the Danish one. The Danish one is so ominous and seemed way more intentional. A very cohesive film.

My rating: 4 out of 5 stars. such a creepy story...I just like the deliverance of the Danish version better.
