Uzumaki

First off, everyone is shitting on the animation of this show (and I can see from a technical standpoint and if I was an artist how some things might throw me off if I were to look at some of the frames) BUT I actually liked this animation more than the Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre. Maybe the black and white made it more manga(y) which I feel delivers the horror better than the animated series. Ok, so many things going on with this show. There are people like Azami (I think that is her name) who contain a spiral on their body and that spiral is all and eventually self-consuming. Then there are the snail people...wtf lol. The spiral on their body makes them develop a shell and then their eyes are eventually turned into stalks as the rest of them transforms into a gastropod. Then there are the people who physically turn into spirals by being subjected to spirals. Like their bones break and their body twists into a spiral. What I like about this whole series (only 4 episodes right now on Max) is that is based on something so trivial like a spiral. I guess it has some sort of arcane meaning behind it and the origin in the anime is based on spiral-centric runes. The energy of the runes goes rampant, and the town experiences all sorts of phenomena which all have something to do with a spiral. 

Rotten Tomatoes rating: I saw both 3 and 4 out of 5 stars so I will meet in the middle (3.5 out of 5 stars)
