I can see where this movie was going, but I don't think it quite delivered. Which is a shame because the cast was pretty good and the idea as a whole was pretty good, but the substance was missing? Granted, it's hard to make something like AI scary, but I think they could have added a lotttt more tension and unsettlingness (that's def not a word). I did like the idea of AIA holding people hostage though. I think the idea of an AI based off of a huge dataset (like the freaking internet...is that just a database composed of databases?) wanting to be human after all that learning was a bittttt cheesy. But I guess that's what make it a horror right? Something incapable of feelings longing for something human so much that it intends to destroy human value to obtain it. It does make one think...will everything that I have digitally stored be held as a ransom someday? We trust so much in machines these days and rely on them every single day of our lives. AI can be a whole new genre of horror with how relatable its usage is and how much power it holds over us. Technology in general, not just AI. As I said before, they could have done more though. This was a blueprint for a really good horror movie and def had some good parts. I even liked all the AI generated images in the beginning title scenes. It was a fun movie, and I didn't hate it! I prob just wouldn't really watch it again. It was meh, but not like this movie fucking sucks. For some reason I think this story would have been delivered better in book form, but then we wouldn't get some of the creepy AI images from the film so idkkkkk.
