Hereditary

HAIL PAIMON....HAIL PAIMON! Wow, wow, wow this is such a great movie, and I've watched it so many times. Every time I watch it, I notice something new, and I do not know how...I guess they do put in a lot of little "easter eggs" Ari Aster style like in Midsommer. I really do consider this movie and Midsommer to be top tier horror movies. When I say top tier, I mean that I am hooked to the movie from start to finish and it was a genuinely unique type of horror movie. Ok, Toni Collete playing any type of maternal figure you knowwww it gonna be unhinged. She delivereddddd honestly everyone in this movie freaking ate (is that a thing people say?) I think the creepiest part about this movie is the cult's whole secret involvement and them literally preying on Queen Leigh's family (Annie's mom). The whole thing about Annie not wanting to have kid's due to all of the really crazy stuff that had already occurred in her family and even telling poor Peter...yikes. Honestly, poor Peter for the entirety of the movie. Dude just wants to enjoy his reefer and talk to his crush and this house party has every freaking walnut to exist going into the cake...which everyone knows...cake is always provided at teenage house parties...especially with tons and tons of nuts. Some say that Annie's mom gave her that nut allergy as a young child when she breastfed her to go along with the cults well-orchestrated plan, but we do not know for sure. It took me a few watches to really understand/track how Paimon was being summoned through the various hosts. Like the first time I watched this (around the time the movie came out) I didn't realize that Paimon was already using Charlie as a host when the movie started. I mean looking back now it's a bit obvious from how weird she was acting, but hey! Kids be weird sometimes. Thennn Paimon makes his little self to Annie's body as the host and man does he. He takes Annie on a wild ride then ends up making her decapitate herself for part of his sacrificial ritual as he attempts to make his way to a male host (which is suppppper important to him I guess). Just another woman hater I guess...It also took me a while to realize that Joan had purposely used Annie in a vulnerable state to do a seance for her daughter. What she was reallllly doing was summoning Paimon (who was Charlie!). The poor dad too. He was just trying to keep it all together only to be burnt alive in the end because I guess his blood was no good and he was just a pawn. See ya! Overall, this is a movie that I could seriously watch over and over again. It's so creepy and disturbing, yet such a beautiful movie.

Rotton Tomatoes rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

My rating: 5 out of 5 stars (One of the best movies to exist...)
