It: Chapter 2

I have mixed feelings about this film...I like it but there are parts where I feel like ugh what? For example, I really like what they did with some of the special effects to show how versatile Pennywise's physical form can be but then I feel like they did stuff to be creepy just to be creepy (not really part of the story). This book is so big (the audiobook alone was 40 hours) that they needed to completely focus on the story in this final chapter of the story. As I said, they did a decent job, but I feel like they focused too much on the comedy and the special effects. Also, why did the losers THINK Mike invited all of them back to Derry. They acted shocked when he didn't straight up tell them lolll but there is the effect of forgetting certain instances as each of these friends moved further and further away, they forget more and more of their childhood. Stan was not havin' it though. What they did the best in both this movie and chapter 1 was making Pennywise a lot more alien like. They were able to do a lot more with his character and the dead lights with having more updated means to create these special effects than they did with the very first movie. Overall, this movie did an okay job at adapting to make the story in a more modernized setting. The cast of the movie was pretty star-studded, and I think saved the movie in a lot of ways. This is an extremely long movie and you def need to buckle in when watching. For being an almost 3-hour film, it was able to keep my attention for the most part and that is always a good sign for a movie. The Pennywise that Skarsgard emulates is almost a completely different Pennywise than Curry's. The new Pennywise gives more into the scare factor rather than creep factor and is much more aggressive when it comes to feeding/hunting. I feel like they should make an IT sequel that exclusively focuses on Pennywise's character as an alien (I keep using that word, but I think I mean just other worldly. I think he is essentially the antichrist equivalent to the turtle that carries the pancake world on her back?).

Rotten Tomatoes rating: I couldn't find the stars so popcorn rating it is 78%

My rating: 3.8 out of 5 stars (so pretty close)
