Abigail
Alright, I went into this movie completely blind, and I was NOT expecting it to be so campy. That's not a bad thing! When I say I went in blind I mean I didn't even know that Abigail was vampire...I just knew there was a lot of blood lol. I would call this sort of a campy, yet witty horror flick. I thought that the cast played pretty well together even though I heard (or completely hallucinated) that they didn't feel like they were cohesive as a whole. The girl who played Abigail was absolutely phenomenal and did a great job at being not only a little freaky vampire, but a little girl vampire with daddy issues! (me too, girlie). I also really loved the element of mind/body control that Abigail had over the cyber hacker blonde girl (the dance scene was a bit much, but I guess I sort of expected as such since the girl loves ballet). This movie was pretty action heavy and I'm typically not really into that (I like my horror movies steady and off-putting), however, it was pretty entertaining watching all the little stunts Abigail pulled off in the movie (I'm not sure if she had a stunt double!) The twist of the movie is that Abigail prompted the whole kidnapping heist herself to basicalllllly get daddy's approval because all of the people who fell victim to her plan were people that had done her father wrong in the past somehow. What I was I not expecting was this to be a final girl troop! I am behind it like I am with all other final girl movies. Not that I realllly think all of the other deaths were justified, but I guess it sort of makes sense to spare the girl who had more good intention than the rest of the group. Girl to girl you know. I wouldn't be surprised if they made a sequel to go into more depth of the weird relationship of Abigail and her dad. They also could make a whole movie about more secrets going on in that little vampire mansion of theirs! The place looks massive and mysterious...that's what she said.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 4 out of 5 stars
My rating: 4 out of 5 stars as well
