Insidious: Chapter 2

You know, I think I liked this one more than the first one. I liked that they went through more of Parker's story (I think that is the demon's name) and how it got to be attached to Patrick Wilson (totally forgot his character name). This movie went back into Pat's childhood and even went into how he was able to encounter his childhood self as his adult self. Does that even make sense lol? He is able to interact with young Pat since he was in the further plane (Parker had possessed his body leaving the "real" Pat in his previous dimension). With this being said I prefer demonically possessed Pat to the normal, boring Pat...I will say he did a good job at playing his normie self while and playing a Parker residing Pat. Ok, I only remember Renai's name because how fucking weird it is, and it reminds me of a Utah Mormon name. I don't know why I don't really like her in this role! I mean she plays well with Pat, but idk! Maybe because I've seen her in more comedy roles (sort of seeing Jim Carry in a horror movie). I feel for her though. She's trying to take care of three kids while wondering and highly suspecting her hubby is actually a demon. As much as I feel for her, I feel for Parker. That poor kid that was manipulated and abused by his mom...and then still carrying out his mommy's bidding?? I'd rather have no relationship with my parents than that toxic situation. The best part of the movie is the medium showing up in the further plane to help Pat. She does a great job in this movie, and I think her plus her 2 goons really make the movie! However, the ending with her was a bittttt too anticipating for the sequel. Don't get me wrong, I like when movies are set up for a sequel, but they completely went away from the main story to highlight a random scenario that was only in the movie to set up the next movie. I wish it was more organic!

Rotten Tomatoes rating: 2 out of 5 stars...yikes....

My rating: 3.7 out of 5 stars. I didn't think it was THAT bad.
