Yes, the Hell House movies are a bit lame, but isn't that we all like them so much? For being a lame movie on paper, this movie actually had a decent amount of creepy elements that made it worth watching. Plus, the story of the hotel and its previous owners is really the lore that the viewers are ultimately after. The movie starts off like any typical found footagey horror where the group of young people venture into a situation that has some cautionary paranormal elements (but nottttt enough to deter them). You automatically have to bro personalities (one of them being worried about getting laid during the season rather than the paranormal events that are about to unfold) and then the main girl who is part of the group. She is the only other female lead besides when the local, Sarah (I think that's her name) joins for the season. So the group knows about an "incident" that had already happened last time this hotel was turned into a haunted attraction and want to revive it to make some dough. Ok, not a bad idea...however, they take no precautionary steps? I guess idk what that would even be in this circumstance, but I would imagine there would be a lot more safety regulations set in place (especially on opening night). Maybe have police on call or have one at the house?? Like idk what I would do either, but I don't know if I would have continued with the opening knowing a full-sized grown-ass clown is walking around the house. Even when they figured out that no one in the group could have been that clown they were like "well...I mean we should still open". That clown really made the movie though. Thing is creepy as shit! I also liked the ending where (OMG now I can't remember if the cast girl is Sarah or the main girl in the group is Sarah) we find out she had actually been murdered in the Hell House tragedy. Reporters were interviewing a ghost! Ooooo and I did like that ending scene where the reporter goes into Hell House only to find the girl in the room then the door slams shut with all those hooded figures! I am glad there are sequels to this movie, but I am shocked that there are as many as there are! It's honestly such a hokey story with subpar acting, but the movies grow on you! I'll be reviewing the rest for sure!

My rating: 4.1 out of 5 skulls just because I can add an extra .1 to my skull.
