I Know What You Did Last Summer

I had to give this a review in anticipation for the NEW sequel coming out. I feel like the sequel was so random, but I'm here for it! This movie really is like Scream, but in a different font. This is another film where a group of teens try to find the identity of someone, and horrors occur in the process. What I don't really understand is how the hell the fisherman is so durable! Like dude was hit by a car and dumped into the water and he still had enough in him to seek revenge on these meddling kids. I will appreciate the twist of the teens thinking they killed a totally different person. Little did they know the person they "killed" was the killer of the person they THOUGHT they killed. Now, there is speculation as to whether this fisherman has supernatural powers since he survived so much yet continues his life like no biggie. Granted, he has had time to recover from when the teens regroup after a year, but STILL! He was freaking hit by a car and almost drown that night...doesn't sound entirely human. There are very tolerate humans out there though. I will also say I like the concept of the villain. We don't have too many horror movies where fishermen are this creepy! It's the jump scare though and the fact that he wears a long coat with his face covered up. The scenes where he is the most menacing appear when you see the coat flying and he is just there with his hook. It's like if you combined Jeepers Creepers with Captain Hook and the dude from the frozen fish sticks box (you know who I am talking about...that old white guy). Ok, yes, the acting was not the best, but I think about how dumb and dramatic I acted as a teen, so I give some grievances. Plus, this is a 90s teen horror flick. What do we expect people! Also, there is an all-star cast in this movie and no one watching was viewing for the authenticity. Everyoneee had a crush on FP Jr. Gosh I even remember my teacher raving about him when I was a kid and I was thinking isn't he a little young for you (as I crush on men in their 30s while I am a pre-teen). This movie mixes just the right amount of suspense, teen lust, mystery and "coolness"(?) to make this memorable movie concoction.

IMDB rating: 3 out of 5 stars
My rating: 3.3 out of 5 stars (a good movie to throw on as a comfort movie)
