The Others

Lolll every time I see Nicole Kidman I cannot help but think of her AMC commercials. I think that is what she will forever be known for in my generation. She was really good in this movie! She does a good job at being a mom who doesn't have any recollection of killing her children then herself after her husband dies. I think this is one of those movies like The Sixth Sense where the ghost finally realizes they are a ghost at the end and it allll makes sense. This movie was a little unique in that there were many ghosts inhabiting the same household, but the overall story isn't entirely original. Then they have the 9th doctor as the husband who died in war! That was kind of cool even though he had such a minor part. The kids sort of reminded me of the brothers from Goodnight, Mommy where they are so paranoid of the one person who is supposed to be nurturing to them. I also expected Kidman's character to be a little more hostile towards the kids (you know...because she murdered them and all) but I think they intentionally made her character "warm" to make the climax of the movie be more surprising? Like...how could this kind woman murder her children?? Now, they do an interesting job with the working family that comes to the house. I guess why at that time did they decide to go to the house? I am a little iffy on when all these events occurred. The working family died before Kidman's family I know that and I know that enough time has passed from after Kidman family's death for people to be interested in the house. I guess anyone can enter into anyone's life randomly like that but it seemed like the working family ghosts had a reason to go to the house for nostalgic reasons (I guess I'm supposed to buy that they used to work there...idk why I am so suspicious). I will admit it was kind of cute that the ghosts all became a little family at the end and sort of banded together. Some people in service just love to serve all their lives I guess? Is she going to be Kidman's little slave until the end of eternity?? Also, she's just cool with the fact that this woman killed her kids?? This movie is about seeing past red flags. We listen and we don't judge.

Shudder rating: 5 out of 5 skulls????? Was not expecting a 100% skull rating....

My rating: 3.9 out of 5 skulls...I mean it was good...but not like amazing
