Nosferatu (2024)

*In Nosferatu's voice* "Come....now....and...bounceeee....on ittttt" Robert Eggers does it again! This is not only a beautiful film but so well done. It's been a while since I've seen the OG Nosferatu so I sort of forgot to the plot going into this movie. One and my friends and I saw this movie on Christmas (or like the day before or after? I forgot) and they had the coolest popcorn buckets! It's like a tin coffin with little rats at the bottom and I've used it multiple times. You know what? I might go get some popcorn tonight and fill her up! Ok, diving into the movie. We've got Thomas who has to personallllly visit Count Orlok because Orlok want's a crib in Germany, so he has to travel alllll the way over to him to get some paperwork done. When he arrives to Orlok's town it is very obvious that the people are entrenched in superstition, and all know of this Count Orlok guy. Thomas immediately realizes that this dude is pretty sus and the whole time he is there he notices a lot of weird stuff going on. Now, let's focus on his wife Ellen who is was pretty upset that her hubby had to leave for this voyage. We find out that she was pretty lonely back in the day and put out there in the universe that she was seeking a companion. Little did she know that freaking Nosferatu as just waiting to pounce at the opportunity. This is before she meets Thomas, and she experiences everything for minor possessions to full on erotica with this freaky little vamp. He must have her! (wasn't that all men's excuses back in the day for harassment?) This explains Nosferatu's obsession with Ellen and why he plagues their town as he tries to "acquire" her. The dude is basically a disgruntled, rejected, powerful psycho (sort of like the current head of the US administration) who wants to take what he feels like he is entitled too. Oh, Ellen knows how to play the game though. Her plan to bang Nosferatu and give him that good P until dude gets so lost in the sauce, he doesn't realize the sun is about to dissolve him works! I think she wanted to get freaky with him even outside the plot. We see Ellen learning for a deep companionship, and she got this boy obsessed. She def wanted a ride in my opinion and no judgement at all! Such a poetic movie that was really a nice final touch to all the romantism Eggers brought to the film. The cast was marvelous and was the reboot we needed!

Rotten Tomatoes rating: 4 out of 5 stars
