Jennifer's Body
I have to admit, this movie has a seat at the table at my top 10 horror movies. This is just such a fun horror movie an honestly Megan Fox did such a great job a succubus. I think the character development between Needy and Jennifer really spoke to me for some reason. I love the whole popular girl befriends nerd who only understands her trope. Yes, this movie is incredibly cheesy, but I enjoy like every second of this movie haha. I love how vain Jenny's character is and how she manages to become completely vain when she has her new demonic abilities. The story is a bittttt lame. I mean small indie band wants to rise in popularity, so they make a deal with the devil and have to sacrifice a virgin. Like I could see the mental backflips the lead singer did to conclude that Jennifer was a virgin but justtttt to be safe, wouldn't you choose someone who looked...more...like a virgin? I feel horrible for saying that but there was a chance that this girl flirting with you may actually not be a virgin. There were obvious implications that this movie is just about Jennifer being the epitome of feminine power. She appears to be sort of like this sexual bimbo from the beginning of the movie, but it is very evident that she just knows how to work certain people (especially men). Then when she inherits her new powers (because a demon apparently transferred into her body during the sacrifice because she wasn't a virgin). She takes her revenge not only because she needs the energy/sustenance to keep her new form intact, but also as an act of vengeance for the treatment she has received from men over the years. I think the movie is rated so highly for me because I am genuinely intrigued by Jennifer's character. She is like popular girl who appears to lack any depth, but she really does have something to her more than her looks and that is what Needy sees. It is interesting to see that during Jennifer's last moments, she completely loses touch with reality once that friendship necklace is torn from Jennifer's neck. It is as if that was the last tie to what she truly cared about. I also liked (even though it was super cheesy) how Needy inherited some of the demonic powers from Jennifer and she was able to escape solitary confinement to kill that band! Bad-ass movie and a great way to end the movie.
IMDb rating: 5.5 out of 10
My rating: 9.5 out of 10 (can I just have one guilty pleasure please? And no, it's not because I think Megan Fox is a total bombshell. She is gorgeous obviously but is not the main reason I love this movie!)
