Killer Klowns From Outer Space
I'm not gonna lie, there are some good parts to the movie, but I am nottttt a crazy fan. Yeah, it's fun and campy and those costumes are honestly great, but this movie is literally just for the props. We have this ship who lands in a small town and the ship just looks like a giant circus tent. We find out that there are aliens who we think look like clowns (I think they said somewhere in the film that they landed a long time ago and we drew our inspiration for the human clown from them) just roaming about. It's still sort of mystery of why they are there and there is no real backstory. A couple of teens get on the ship and realize that the cotton candy is like a cocoon and keeping some people encased within. It's still unclear of what they are doing with the earthlings other than capturing and turning some into popcorn which is like the beginning of their life cycle? Like they are popcorn...then turn into snakes with clown heads...the become clowns? See, the movie is funny and creative but idk maybe it's the clowns walking so slow everywhere. Also, the most vulnerable part of their body is their nose which is front and center and also a comically huge target. That doesn't make sense! There is no way they would evolve to have to have that biological adaptation passed on like that come onnnnnn. Idk why I am even trying to dissect this movie lol. Then the clowns just explode?? There's a giant leader clown?? People are saved at the end literally due to being in the back of an ice cream truck?? The thing is I want to love this cult classic. I really wish I did. Idk whyyyyy I just am not the biggest fan. Maybe I wanted it to be weirder. I wanted more from the clowns, and I wanted more gruesome things, I guess. I have a feeling this will be a film they remake in the future and really turn up the dial. I am hoping so! I did like the costumes and props as I said. That was probably the thing that got this movie to be forever remembered and why it has a cult following. I'm just jealous because I want to be part of it, but my heart says no.
Prime rating: (sort of forgot they have star ratings on Prime) 5 out of 5 stars (not surprised...people love this movie)
My rating: 3.2 out of 5 stars (was gonna be 3.0, but damn, those props are good)
