Pet Sematary (1989)
I had to look up why this movie is spelled so whack and it is apparently because it is supposed to be how a kid would spell the name? I mean, I guess. It's also a little confusing that there are two cemeteries. One is the actual pet cemetery and then there is the actual Native American burial ground where if you bury your dead you better hope they come back not sassy! I think what really made this movie was the creepy Zelda character who kept taunting Rachel. Then there was the whole weird element of Rachel's parents being freaking crazy and making Rachel take care of her dying sister. Yeah, I would be weirded out too and angry, but the dude like legit did not want to interact with the parents. Oh gosh, then that brings us to little Gage. What a cute little zombie though! I love that he lured mommy in and used his cute little scalpel. Man, I did feel a little sorry for the guy since he not only had to excavate his own son, but he also had to kill him again since, you know, he killed his mother. Ok, let's talk about the freaking weird neighbor, Jud. Jud needs to mind his own business and maybe tend to his wife who is in constant pain! I feel like they didn't go into that enough and she hung herself a little out of nowhere. I'm sure the book goes into detail since every King book is like 10000000 pages long. Is it bad that I didn't feel that bad when he died? He introduced the dad (I cannot remember his name...) to the whole ancient burial ground thing and may have even caused the events to happen! I guess he did technically save Gage in the very beginning. I really like the story, but I feel like it was another film that probably didn't do the book complete justice. Regardless, this was such a cozy watch while it was raining and I enjoyed it :)
