The Toxic Avenger has to be one of the best horror villains/heroes in cinematic existence. This movie is just a treasure lollll. I will highlight just a few of the best parts. The first is that the Toxic Avenger is actually played by 2 different people because apparently jumping into a barrel of toxic waste will not only make you super buff but also very tall, so they needed someone to fit that bill. They also got someone with the most calming/gentle voice hahaha I'm not sure if they did that on purpose to sort of show that the old Melvin was still in there? Or it could have just been a purely comedic choice. This movie has so many bizarre parts that I feel like are there only for comedic reasons. Like the fact that Toxie is in a tutu for the whole movie because the girl at the gym said it would be sexy for him to wear it before he decided to jump out the window. Also, the fact that the gym jocks are not only jerks but full-on like serial killers?? Omg that scene where they just run over that kids head and then they take pictures?? I think the most iconic scene is probably Mexican food restaurant literally called "The Mexican Place" or something like that. So much happens. This is where we first are introduced to the Elephant Man part of the movie where the blind girl is saved by a hideous faced man. That poor girl's dog is shot but they scene they show at the end is a little funny because the dog is still painting with its guts just pouring out. Like that dog is just lying there chilling with all these fake organs on top of him/her. The deaths of these bad guys at the restaurant are so comical and brutal at the same time. We've got the milkshake face death, fries in the vat of oil and metal pipes death, guy going in the large pizza oven (at a Mexican restaurant?)...etc. The ending is pretty enjoyable for those who really get satisfaction out of justice being served. The crooked mayor of the town wants to kill Toxie, but the town loves him because he went after the bad guys so there is this whole riot. Toxie ends up gutting the mayor with his bare hands and then it cuts to this weird segment of promoting the Toxic Avenger like a freaking superhero (which I guess he is in a way, yes) and then the movie ends hahaha. The perfect way to end this weird little film.
