Train to Busan

Now this is the type of zombie movie I enjoy. The zombie movements were really eerie in this movie, and you could see how dumb, yet powerful they all were. I guess that is the scariest thing about zombies, right? I thought of Parasite when watching this movie because there was definitely a class tension throughout the film. At the end it felt like the rich were just dictating who got to live or survive, but they were not that bright, so they ended up toast for the most part. I felt really bad for the little girl. It's that whole theme of parents being able to provide, but it doesn't matter unless the parent spends quality time with that. The ending was amazing though. I loved that the dad (for once in his life it seemed) decided to be selfless and kill himself since he had the virus or whatever. I really like that scene towards the end where he is fighting that rich guy who only cared about himself. I think it was sort of an obvious analogy of who he could have been in the future. Another thing I appreciated was the claustrophobic feeling of being trapped on a train with a bunch of zombies and you couldn't escape. Damn! Those humans started turning so quickly once infected. It was almost instantaneous! The very ending was a little bittersweet with the daughter surviving with scarf-guy's pregnant wife. The people in Busan were about to shoot before hearing the song that the daughter sung at her school recital. The dad is not only never there, but also tells her that not finishing something is worse that not even doing it all? Idk bottom line is she didn't sing because the dad wasn't at the concert or something, but it was the song that ultimately saved the duo at the end. Is this movie a little cheesy? Yeah, but also not cheesy to a point of being something like Snakes on a Plane? Idk if that makes sense. I also heard that there is an animated prequel to this movie so I will definitely be watching and reviewing that.

IMDb rating: 7.8 out of 10 stars

My rating: 7.0 out of 10 stars. Again, pretty high for a zombie flick.
