So, a couple things about this movie. 1. I battled my extreme social anxiety and went to see this by myself. I know it doesn't sound like a big deal, but I have become quite the shut in over the last year of my life due to number of circumstances. I am proud of myself! 2. I've heard mixed reviews about this movie and most of them were negative. Unfortunately, I have to agree. It certainly wasn't a terribleeeeee movie, but there was nothing to it! It was done well, it hit all the check boxes of an intruder movie set in the woods, the acting wasn't bad, there were jump scares, but where was the story??? Unless I missed a huge number of subtleties, I really didn't see how this movie served as that much of a prequel. I really need to rewatch the first movie because, honestly, I forgot a lot of that movie. Maybe my review will change after watching it over! Who knows. It was entertaining, but not memorable. There was nothing to the movie that is going to make this movie stick out other than the fact that the premise as a whole is frightening to think about. Again, I do not hate the movie at all, but I am a bit disappointed. More could have been done with it! Maybe movies just need to include more wtf scenes to make it memorable these days. Overall, this movie was a wee bit basic for my liking. I think they are doing chapter 2?? Maybe all of this together will be a glorious masterpiece! I am really hoping for that.
