Longlegs
I've heard so many mixed things about this movie being the scariest or the biggest let down of the year...my vote is THIS FILM ROCKED. I really loved Nick Cage's character. I had to do some digging around on the back story of Longlegs as a character because the movie doesn't straight up say. You can gather small things in the background of his room, but there is very little history on him throughout the movie. What I loved the most about the movie was the plot surprisingly. It was such a great blend of elements I enjoy in a good horror flick (satanic cults, satanic possession, creepy dolls, unhinged serial killer) but arranged in such a unique way that the film didn't feel basic in any regard. With so many movies today, films need that element of unpredictability to really stand out. The cinematography was super good too! I loved the vintage layout in the flashback scenes and the way they showed the dolls being veiled at first. It was giving The Nun in some of those scenes! This movie was also just hilarious during some parts. Nick Cage really did such a good job playing this menace and Maika did an extremely good job at playing the FBI agent (with a secret back story!). The first film I saw Maika in was actually just a week ago in the movie Villains and wow...what a stark contrast in characters!! I think this was one of the best horror movies I have seen this year and will def watch it again once it's out on streaming services. Hail Satan! Mwahhhhh!
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars (215 votes) I think it got a perfect 100% on its debut!
My rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars (agree!)
