Maxxxine

 

So glad I saw this in theaters last night!!! I lovvvvved it and also love Mia Goth so I was rock hard the whole time. I love the "girl's gotta save herself" vibe and she is roughin it, but she is ROCKIN it. Ugh the whole trilogy is just so good. I was going to say that Pearl is still my favorite, but X and Maxxxine are just too freaking good. This is exactly what I needed this week to get me out of my funk. Like the other movies in the trilogy, the movie did a great job emphasizing the decade being portrayed. Even the cinematography was very 80's like which was super cool. Everything was very synthesizery and tough street thugs. It was pretty action packed too! Can we also talk about how cool it was that Maxine starred in a horror movie...in a horror movie?? I loved that. They also did a really good job tying Maxine's weird "relationship" (if you want to call it that...maybe connection? both seems like too intimate of a word) with Pearl into the scenes. When she was getting her head mold and was turning into Pearl for example! That's pretty funny because she actually did play Pearl and probably had to go through a lot of the same process just like she did in Maxxxine lol. I was not expecting Maxine's dad to be a Nightstalker copycat!!!
