Barbarian
I miss Justin Long in roles where he wasn't slimy (I'm thinking of the movie Dodgeball lol). He does play the character well though. This movie was good! Lots of elements though. It was sort of confusing at parts as to where the movie was headed. That's not necessarily a bad thing since we don't want the movie to be predictable, but it sorted of reminded me of when I watched Nope and they put that chimp scene in, but didn't dive in enough?? Like they didn't go into the fucked up dad's story enough and spent way too much time on the anticipation and tension of the two innocent characters in the beginning (in my opinionnnnn). Justin Long's character coming in the middle was also a bit distracting, but made sense. Damn I feel like I'm tearing this movie apart! I think I just wanted more from it like I did with Nope! It was hyped up so much and had such good promise and I felt a little empty handed with some of the plot I guess. I still enjoyed the movie and love Billie Skars. Maybe they will make a prequel to the movie explaining more of the dad's origins and why he was doing what he was doing...in real life that wouldn't matter but for a horror movie I want to know whyyyy. Why are you doing that to women and inbreeding like crazy and keeping your whole life underground?? Like they kind of breezed over that lol.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars?? What????
My rating: 4 stars...a very close 3.9 but didn't think it deserved to be in the 3's.
