Signs

I honestly can't remember the last time I watched a movie with Mel Gibson in it...dude sort of freaks me out. I was lol'ing when someone was like "Mel Gibson was actually the alien in this movie." He really did act sort of bizarre...but then again everyone in this whole movie acted super weird??? Especially those freakin' kids man. As I typed that out, I was immediately reminded of how weird Phoenix was tooooooo like I think this was such an interesting cast of characters in the film. I think there is a whole other theory to this film that the family acts so weird because they are part alien as well. I mean that would explain a lot of things about why they are acting so strange. But then again, maybe they are just small-town folk and that's how they act! So, I feel very neutral abou this film. I don't love it or hate it...I feel like there are fanatics on both ends of the spectrum. I think it's funny I walked out of Goodwill with this DVD and The Sixth Sense (another M. Night) and didn't even notice. I think there are some weird parts that make the movie iconic in some ways though. Like the water is this alien race's kryptonite?? They did a good job at inserting scenes that were actually sort of startling in comparison to some of the other scenes (and for that time). I think everyyyyyone knows which scene I am about the bring up. The iconic News segment where the alien is in the background of the kid's bday. I really don't know why that scene stuck with everyone! It was such a basic and grainy alien scene, but it was just unexpected to see the whole ass alien I guess?? Again, good movie that's great for a cozy rewatch.
