The concept of this movie is perfect for our generation since, very fortunately, we actually address our mental health (speaking of which I need to find a new therapist lol). I really like that this movie can be taken literally and figuratively...I mean I guess that's any sort of media we consume, but because this movie exclusively focuses on mental health and the effect of trauma on the brain, it makes the possibility of all the events being hallucinations. I am led to believe that the movie meant to portray a literal monster though since it was visibly seen and drawn by people encountering it. This movie was deffff like the Ring though in the sense of having to pass on the curse to avoid death. It was smart though because that is how trauma affects us in real life. I know I still have trauma I haven't truly dealt with and have hurt people I truly love because of it. It is a very sad cycle that sadly repeats itself almost inevitably. Again, the movies that have been coming out within the last five years have really been relevant to the current struggles we face as a society today (or at least the issues that have a lot more light shed on them today). I am very excited to see the sequel! I think that is either out now or coming out very soon? Again, a lot on the mind and I have no idea what is going on in the world. All that matters to me right now is having the pup lay by me all cozy while he naps. Horror movie marathons are the best for that!
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 4 out of 5 stars
My rating: 4.4 out of 5 stars. I reallly liked the concept of the movie even though it was basically the trauma edition of the Ring.
