Ju-on: The Grudge

Again, another Asian horror movie that is sooooo much creepier than the American adaptation. I think the American Grudge is okay but original is a lot better. This film does a great job on covering the curse and how it manifests itself throughout the city. I like how the film is also broken down by different perspectives so you can see how the curse travels. In a way, it's like The Ring where the curse can keep spreading like a virus (and Incantation...I think this is a pretty popular Asian horror theme). There is even a scene that shows how desolate the town has become since the curse started spreading and that was sort of creepy to know all those people had somehow been exposed to this curse. I really love the element of emotion that comes with how the curse roots itself in the house. It shows how powerful our feelings are how they can be kept in places like a volatile gas just waiting to suffocate. Another thing I really liked about the movie and the whole lore of it all is that the "ghosts" (I forgot their technical name) can only been seen if the hands are over the eyes and slightly open. Old man isn't just playing peek-a-boo at the nursing home and grandma just lying on the floor like that for no reason! Sometimes...you gotta trust the old people. Well, I def have more to say about the movie but my laptop is about to die so I'm gonna have to cut it short. More to tell when I review the sequel!

Shudder rating: 4 out of 5 skulls...really?? Not 5??

My rating: 5 out of 5 skulls!
