Midsommar
What a masterpiece...truly. This is a movie I feel is spectacular from start to finish. The whole movie was so cohesive and, ugh, I just gush over this movie. I love all the raw emotion in the movie as well as how the whole movie (like any A24 movie) was just so unsettling. I'm not gonna say Dani's boyfriend deserved to be paralyzed, be dressed in actual bear skin and be burned alive buttttt he was pretty fucked up. We all know he brought Dani there on purpose to make her upset so she would WANT to break up with him. He was totally looking for an escape. That's a rough situation though when you want to break up with someone and literally their whole family dies...like what do you even do? Maybe not take them overseas and act like an ass? Idk. Also, who takes shrooms immediately when going to a brand, new place with a bunch of new people? Not my thing...and obviously not Dani's thing either. Poor girl, she went through so much in that movie lollll I really cannot think of a single thing I didn't like about this movie. It hit every thing I like in a movie. Super unsettling. Cults. Bizarre rituals. Unexpected events and scenes. Raw emotion. What the fuckness. I never rate movies 5 stars and I don't know why! Maybe this will be my first 5 star one?? I didn't think this was one of my favorite horror movies until I rewatched it. I knew I loved the movie when I didn't really mind that it was a hella long movie. I love the whole thing.
