Satan's Slaves: Communion
I have to admit, I've grown fond of this poor little family being terrorized by cultist activity that was a consequence of their father seeking a deal with the devil to have the life and family he thought he deserved. This film was awesome and I realllllly hope they make at least one more. Like the Satan's Slaves Trilogy! I actually just looked it up and Joko plans to release a third and literally made me clap (and I'm alone at home lolllll I feel like a sim). The best part about this film was that it really emphasized that the cult could (and would) follow you anywhere no matter if you are in a super crowded apartment or in the secluded woods. I also really appreciated how they brought back all of the characters from the first film (well, most...at least the main ones). Now, I wish they spent a little more time diving into the mom's history a bit more and more of the cult itself. It gave more info than the first film, but I was still like huhhh? I feel like they used the mom and Ian as sort of vessels as a result of the dad wanting the mom's fame/success and to be able to have children. Ian being a vessel for the literal son of Satan and the mom being a vessel for Satan's....bride? Or at least someone very high up in the cult/belief. For a sequel this movie did an excellent job, nonetheless. There are very few horror sequels that I feel did as good of a job as this film and it deserves credit! As I dive deeper and deeper into international horror, I've come to appreciate all the differences in scare tactics and lore. I think this film series has one of the best plots and the creepy element does it justice. Oooof, those poor kids in the elevator shaft. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Also one of the best intros to a horror flick...all those bodies circled around the observatory and bowed down like that! It was giving "Hail Paimon" vibes.
