Presence

This was an interesting one...much more psychological than actual scary. I really like the artistic take on it and the ending was super good! The ending really saved it because there were some parts that were a bit slow. The movie is definitely set up to make you believe that the presence in the house is one of the daughter's friends that died of what appeared to be an overdose. My small brain didn't grasp what was happening and had to have it explained to me...but now it all makes sense. It's confusing because the ghost in the house is the son (who is seen alive during almost the entire film). Turns outtttt that the ghost that is inhabiting the house is like the son's ghost from the future and his whole purpose of being there is to ultimately save his sister from the events that are about to transpire. The son is assumed to feel bad for his part in her attack (or at least what he feels responsible for) and makes it a mission to save her. As a new kid in town, the son was super eager to make friends and was thrilled to death to make friends with Mr. Popular. Mr. Popular, however, be popping pills into drinks and then asphyxiating them due to his obsession with death. The teen was ultimately very self-loathing and hated his life. Fast forward to Mr. Popular and the sister hooking up and then Mr. P taking it upon himself to drug her and then attempt to asphyxiate her. That is, until the brother runs into the room after being awaken by the ghost (the son was also drugged by Mr. P). The brother jumps towards Mr. P and they both land on the pavement dead from the second story of the house. It is revealed at the very end of the movie that the son's reflection is in the silver nitrate mirror and the mom collapses from grief. P.S. the mom has a super cringe relationship with the son and I'm glad the dad was there for the daughter! I think the story of this movie was really good, but it wasn't exciting enough for me to get excited to see again. I can see this being a fun movie to rewatch with someone who is watching for the first time.
