Frankenhooker
What an interesting little film lolllll. Ok, so I saw someone review this movie and they implied that there were a lot of feminist undertones throughout the film. I think some things in this movie CAN be interpreted as such, but based on watching this film on one of the Last Drive-In episodes and seeing Frank Henenlotter talk about the film...I don't think it's that deep. Like Jeffery giving himself little drills in the head throughout the film I think was a little fun thing to add in the film to show how crazy the main character is (or how he copes with all mad science he is going through with). The review was implying that this was representing how he needs to make himself dumbed down to the man level to go through with his thoughts in the process of perceiving women as just body parts. Maybe this is the case! I just didn't reallllly see Henenlotter going that far in thought, but hey, maybe I'm just ignorant. This movie is one of the better campy movies and was so fun to watch with Bob Briggs and Darcy doing their whole skit. The best part about his movie is (I mean besides the wacky science behind the personalities of all the hookers residing in their extremities after death) the ending. Classic. White guy with little sense of empathy or clear cohesive thoughts gets dished what he has been serving. Jeffery waking up to a body compiled of hooker parts that have been preserved in an "estrogen-based" serum is the icing on the cake after watching I don't know how many hookers exploded throughout the film. I really don't know what else to say about the film! It's just a fun film (that may or may not have deep seeded feminism undertones). First review written from my new place! Gotta catch up.
