His House
Man, this one was extra creepy with all of the current world events. Hundreds of thousands of people are going to be forced to (if the process hasn't started already) leave their homes for Trump's "new and improved" Gaza strip. This movie starts out with a couple fleeing their home because the 2 tribes there are fighting to the death basically. In order to get on the cramped bus, they find a child and say it is theirs so that they spare all of their lives. The actual mother of the girl is seen running towards the bus for her, but I think is shot down. The poor little girl screams for her mom, and this obviously sparks suspicion around the bus. You go into the movie not knowing this and assume that they lost their actual child. It isn't until the paranormal events start happening when the couple has to face their past. This movie is also heartbreaking because the husband is very eager to start a new life and immerse himself in a new culture (most likely to escape the past) while the wife misses her roots (and probably is more haunted by the past). Even when she makes a nice dinner and has their meal on the floor like they were accustomed to, the husband says that they should eat at the table next time and use silverware. RUDE! She made you a whole ass meal. I find all the cultural aspects of this movie more haunting than the actual paranormal aspect! However, they did a great job with the special effects and making both the little girl and the witch super creepy. Not to mention all the people who died on the raft showing up as ghosts. The ending was pretty creepy and symbolic of how the past will never really leave and some events will haunt you forever (with or without the Witch who was killed in the end). The cast and acting in this movie were so good!
