Parasite
This is such a freaking good movie. I think it's beautifully done, it was smart and had sooooo much symbolism for the true horrors of classism. The most heartbreaking part is the fact that most of the violence by the "lower-class" citizens to one another. It really reminds me of the political climate we are in right now. We have an oligarchy of billionaires running the show in the US while the less privileged blame each other for ridiculous things like DEI causing plane crashes. We are such a brainwashed society where the poor and uneducated will protect their savior billionaire at any cost even if it means losing everything they have. Anywayssss back to the movie. The ending was always very sad as it was a complete fantasy. The poor son just wants to get his dad out of the basement and the only way he thinks to do so is to become successful enough to purchase the house. He envisions his whole family (besides his last sister) living there comfortably. It's a fantasy because we know that the rock he received is hollow (that's how he survived his injury). But when he puts the rock in the water at the end of the movie it sinks, therefore, proving his reality wasn't true. Another thing to point out in the movie is that the rain that devastated the parasite family was seen as a thing of beauty to the rich family due to it being beautiful the next day. They were not affected because they lived at the top of the city (which is symbolic in itself). I also love love love the creep factor of the old housekeeper's hubby living in the secret bunker! Ugh huge houses creep me out so much. No thanks, I'll take my 635 sq ft apartment where I can see almost every inch from a single sitting perspective. Again, most of the violence is done by the old housekeeper and her husband with the new parasitic family. Both families suffering financially and relying on this rich family for a salary. Only the father of the parasitic family lashes out against the rich family and it's only after his daughter is killed. Of course, the rich family doesn't know they are all family so doesn't understand the significance of her death. Ok, I could write pages about this movie I feel so here is where I stop my review.
