House of 1000 Corpses
I feel like I have amnesia because I legit forgot so much of this movie when I rewatched it. I mean, I knew Dana and Dwight were in it and it's a Rob Zombie flick, but I really forgot about the Firefly family. Glad I revisited! Ugh I like but don't like this movie. I think it was done well but it's not my typical style of movie I gravitate towards. Grungy, hillbilly culture is just not really my scene. It's a scene though and should be appreciated!! Like I said, there were a lot of good parts to the movie. It was campy and weird while having a decent amount of gore and special effects. I think they did a really good job with Dr. Satan and did a good job incorporating his story into the plot of this whole film. There was a lot going on! I mean, we start off with a robbery like right away (you know Captain Spaulding's Museum of Monsters and Madness with gasoline and fried chicken is making bank). Then we have the main characters almost immediately picking up the hitchhiker that leads them into the whole mess. I will say that the cast and acting for the Firefly family was awesome. They all did such a good job being intertwined and how do I put this...backwoods unaware? Idk if that makes any sense hahaha. There truly is a fear of people who live out in the middle of nowhere. Like what could they be doing?? I mean look at these people! They were abducting teenage girls and giving Dr. Satan a bunch of freaking playthings. That was a pretty cool scene though...when they get lowered into the underground cavern via coffin. Like the movie title suggests, there are tons of skeletons down there and it seems to be part of the cave's structure at this point. Like the lair is made up of...1000 corpses. Dang, then they did Dana dirty like that in the end. SHE WILL ALWAYS BE DANA! Idk what other character she plays. This movie said NO to the final girl trope, I guess.
Rotten Tomatoes rating: Well, I couldn't find the star rating, but the Popcornmeter was 65%
My rating: 3.9 out of 5 stars
