Dang, this movie had some real brutal elements to it. I think the majority of the reviews for this movie start with "if you can get past the r*pe scene(s)..." definitely not my favorite horror element, but here it is. It really is awful, and the two brothers are constantly trying to assault the same women and end up fighting. I think Eli Roth was trying to make this movie campy yet extra dark. I will say that he did a great job with his casting. The old lady who plays Mother is veryyyy believable. It takes a special old lady to be able to play a role where you watch (and clap) for your two sons to torture women. I guess the reason why they are even capturing these poor women is for Mother's entertainment, however, you cannot expect me to believe that these two wouldn't have done all these acts without Mother's direction. I could really do a whole character analysis on the Mother character. She seems like someone who is very insecure (and mentally deranged) who almost needs her sons to crave her approval. It makes sense if you look at how they are completely secluded, meaning that Mother gets to live out her fantasy world without being in the public eye, and the fact that her sons have very little intelligence. All brawn and no brain...which is the perfect character combo that someone seeks when wanting to control others. For being an 80s flick they really got creative with some of the murders! My ultimate favorite is the very end where mother gets SMOTHERED with a set of inflatable boobs. The TV head and hatchet to the crotch her super well-deserved by the brothers though. There are people out there who say that Ike and Adley grow on you throughout the movie and I'm like what?? If anything, I feel slightly bad because they have been controlled and manipulated all of their lives, but as I said, they really had some messed-up scenes involving women so yeah no. Fun fact, this movie has been banned in several countries. It's bad, but honestly I didn't think it was THAT bad.

My rating: 3.7 out of 5 skulls (mostly because there is a scene where an old guy yells "YOU LESBEANS" and the Mother actress does a great job. Besides that, this movie really is hard to get through during some scenes).
