This movie would have legit scared the shit out of me if I was a kid in the 70s (not so desensitized to a world of violence). For its time, this movie really pushed the boundaries for horror. I mean the movie starts off with decaying bodies (some of them being sodomized with a grave) and had hitchhiker dude not only cut himself but cut the disabled dude! Franklin did NOT deserve that lol. I really need to dive into the real case that this was based on. That's what makes a horror movie frightening to me. I will say though that this movie sort of falls in the whole hillbilly horror genre I'm usually not toooo fond of, however, this is a classic and did a pretty good job. It obviously stood the test of time and has sequels + remakes. I WILL NEVER GET OVER THE ENDING. How dumbbbbbbbb. The guy's truck was still running! I think a lot of people have problems with the ending. Like why get out of the car to be manually chased by a weirdo with a chainsaw?? They really should have had them drive off then and there and had Leatherface do his little dance. But no, there had to be a SMALLER truck involved to come to the rescue last minute?? Anyways...lots of holes in movies so this is not unique. I would like to know more about the family. The hitch hiker is brothers with Leatherface, but the gas station attendant is related too? Or just in it for fun and the human BBQ? Then grandpa just chillin and coming back to life (sort of) with Sally's blood...that part was a bit confusing. I did a little research, and I guess this grandpa (Grandpa Sawyer) is not the grandpa the group was originally there to see about. I just had to make sure. Ok! Well hopefully TCM2 will answer some of my questions.
