Sinners

Not gonna lie, I thought this movie was going to be overrated. But nooooooo this movie was worth all of the hype. Man, was this a good movie. We really needed more horror noire as well and this one really hit it out of the park. Also, it is taking me wayyyy too long to realize the same actor is playing two roles lollll there were so many cool things happening with this movie! The first being the amazing soundtrack (and I'm not a fan of blues!). I love the whole concept of blues being so powerful it opens portals (hence why the white vampires wanted to get involved). That scene in the barn where all different musical artists from different eras and start rocking out legit gave me chills. That scene was one of the coolest scenes I've ever seen! Next, they did a really good job with the vampires. Vampires have been done over and over again, but this movie did a great job with the special effects. Idk how to explain it. They made them look more realistic. Like their eyes were really glowing red? Then the whole race aspect of it all. I mean the barn that Smoke and Stack got were from the main dude from the KKK and he was planning on sabotaging them. Then you have the white chick making things messy in there! The vampires really represented the racial divide though. Idk it was sort of an analogy for white people colonizing and turning others to be like them. This movie really checked all the boxes and, honestly, I am surprised how much I liked it for being so actiony. I loved the cast, and I don't think they could have done a better job at casting this movie. This movie really representing a clash of so many entities like religion, race, and, well, vampirism. I had two people ask me in the same week if I've seen this movie yet and now, I see why. Because it's freaking amazing. I think there is also some inspiration from that musician who people thought traded his soul for his musical talent. I listened to like a spooky podcast about it once and it sort of rang a bell. Maybe not, but it made me think of it!
