The First Omen
Wow, this was actually a really good prequel. It's been on my list forever and I'm so glad I got around to watching it! I think this movie did a good job at keeping some of the creepy elements of the original Omen movie and then had more modernized horror elements (such as some of the special effects gore they prob could have not pulled off in the first movie). They really did a good job at explaining our little Damien's origin story starting with his mother's involvement in the church. Little did Margret know that the church she is joining in a Satanic sector who is only interested in her because she has the mark on her. I guess the Anti-Christ has to be a dude (like Paiman in Hereditary)...makes sense though. Look at the audacity of dudes! One of them for sure is the Anti-Christ. The whole reason they want her to bang Satan and birth the Anti-Christ is because fear will ultimately lead people to the church and, therefore, God's army will be stronger to fight against it? Like why not fight it at the source and not have the Anti-Christ to begin with? I guess if Satan's coming anyways prepare by introducing Satan Jr.? I can't with religious logic...anyways. I think this movie did a good job at giving some twists and turns when it comes to Margret's involvement with the whole thing. Also, worst roommate in the world...she was part of the plan to get her knocked up by Hell Daddy?? And that guy at the bar...allllll part of it. Oof birthing scenes always get me. That end scene where they had to scoop out those little babies from her womb while she was just awake like that...damn. Now they did set up the movie to have more sequels (of the prequel). I actually really like the ending of her and Carlita (sp?) and her daughter (oh yeah, Damien has a sister). Damien was taken away and has started the process of getting adopted by an affluent family so he can reign the world. I have a feeling that they are going to make the sister "fight" him in some way in another movie. Like she's gotta have some powers too, right?? I guess they didn't reveal if she had the mark or not but I assumeeee both siblings had the mark, but idk. I think they left it so open ended at the end on purpose to potentially set something up. Carlita will prob make a comeback too. I think the church kept her around because she was marked, survived after birth, and had visions that the cult could use to find Margret/prophesize Damien's fate.
