Ok, I have so many of the Final Destination movies to review so I HAVE to get going on them. This one is prob the mossssst famous for the log truck scene which everyone literally thinks about when they are being one of those dang these in the road. It's sort of hard to review these movies (hence, why I've been postponing) because they really are kind of the same movie just with different ways to die with a different friend group. Not that I'm complaining at all because I love these movies, but they are not necessarily greatly unique. I will say that there some cool deaths in this film. Ok, I do love the whole dentist scene as someone who is terrified of the dentist. I love the fact that the death didn't even occur during the dental visit, but the stupid kid ran into the road all drugged up and got a huge sheet of glass dropped on him. On the opposite side of the spectrum, the lamest death was the poor girl who had the airbag inflate, pushing her head back into a spike. Bet that guy who caused that feels pretty shitty after that whole ordeal. I also like that Clear Rivers made it back into the series! I think this is the last film where she is tangibly in the FD series? I might be trippin. The most memorable moment of the film that makes it different from the others is that we finally see a "flaw" in death's design. The reason Kimberly drives that truck into the lake is because she wanted to temporarily die so death could basically redesign its plan for her and the group. There is also the element of the baby and brining in new life into death's grand plan. Both of these things caused a twist allowing Kimberly to still be alive at the end of the film. That's an accomplishment in the FD series for sure! I could go on with some other elements of this movie, but I have so many of these dang FD movies to review that I am moving on!
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars...ouch!!
My rating: 3.8 out of 5 stars. I have to admit I've been rating a lot of movies in the 3.6-3.9 star range lately.
