The Vourdalak
The fact that the main antagonist is a puppet...lollll I actually loved the puppetry. I thought it was unique and added to the fantasy vibes of this movie. It was sort of like a weird fantasy fever dream already then, this freakin' puppet shows up. The story was also really unique too and I've honestly never heard of this Vourdalak creature before. Apparently, this thing feeds off its family! I mean he did warn them. He straight up said if I return on day 6, I will be a Vourdalak. We love a transparent king. The French dude was pretty funny too (until he got randomly rapey in that one scene?) I was so confused. Like one minute he was super goofy and naive then he was forcing himself on this girl in the forest?? I don't get men. He then becomes obsessed with her (oh the ending is goooood). So anyways the dad of this family in the woods comes back as a Vourdalak after fighting the Turks. He's like "ahhhh yes I loveeee my family". He then proceeds to bite his grandson (turning him into a Vourdalak) who then calls for his mom after she thought he was dead and becomes bitten (turning her into a Vourdalak). The son is shot, and the eldest son also becomes a Vourdalak. Ok, the iconic ending...our French pal thinks he is eventually going to get lucky with our worm-eating queen and while he thinks he is on top of her banging he sees that it was the OG dad Vourdalak under him drinking his blood. He is like crap now I am a Vourdalak so he stabs him and sets the house of fire. He goes to the cliff where he finds his "lover" and tells her to go to Europe and start a new life (giving her his map and everything!) He jumps knowing he is infected and doesn't want to spread the Vourdalakness. We see the girl later making the same sounds as the Vourdalak alluding to the fact that she has also been infected. Ugh so good. Not for everyone though. It's a weird one but good one.
