Good Boy (2025)

Not to be confused with THE OTHER Good Boy movieeeee. I actually really liked the other one too where the guy is keeping another guy as a dog. This one had an entirely different premise. I think this movie could be left to interpretation (I guess every movie is). I am more inclined to believe that the "monster" Indy is seeing is actually Death since they keep showing Todd sick as hell in like every other scene. If they didn't emphasize how sick he was through the whole movie I might have been more inclined to believe that there is an actual spirit haunting his grandfather's house. I think the movie as alluding to Indy being able to see Death as an actual manifested being that is looming over Todd as he deteriorates. We never find what Todd is really dying from but maybe it was sort of the same thing his grandpa had? Or not. The movie didn't make that quite clear and maybe that was on purpose. A part I really liked about this movie and really gave it a creative twist is the fact that Indy dreams and even sometimes sees the grandpa's dog. It was so sad when Indy came across Bandit's bones :( This is why I am so hesitant to get a dog again. You are really their entire world. I really miss my old pup and this movie def made me cry during the whole scene where Todd is remembering all the times with Indy. I thought the ending was pretty good where Indy can see Todd's spirit and Todd is telling him not to wait for him because he won't be back. Omg that makes me so sad to even write. WE DO NOT DESERVE DOGS. The monster eventually takes Todd, and the sister finds Indy all alone and Todd is dead in his grandpa's house. I listened to a podcast about this film, and I do agree that the movie seemed a bit lengthy because there is only so much you can do with a dog's point of view in a horror, but I really enjoyed it. Indy! You are such a good boy!!!

Shudder rating: 4 out of 5 skulls

My rating: 4.5 out of 5 skulls. Indy really captivated me, and this movie was pretty unique!
