Intruder
Damn, this movie poster really gave away who the killer was! I mean I guess the character is a little shadowy so you can't realllllllly be sure who it is, but they really should have added more of the characters on the cover to add more mystery to the film! This movie clearly tries to make us believe that the "intruder" is the ex-boyfriend, Craig (idk how to spell that name and it sort of looks funny). He cannot leave one of the cashiers alone and is clearly mentally ill. He's just one of those guys who thinks he is entitled to women and will not let the poor cashier just live in peace. He goes to the store to harass her and try to get her back? Works every time, right? We also learn during the film that the other owner of the store (who owns 51% so he calls the shots) is selling it leaving everyone without a job in the very near future. The other owner seems cool on the surface, but little does the audience know....he is CRAZY about this store! So basically, the audience believes that Craig must be killing everyone in the store in revenge for not getting his ex back butttttt the truth is that the other owner (who owns 49%) not only killed his fellow co-owner but everyone else in the store because they might see or get in the way?? Dude! It's literally just a grocery store! Talk about putting things into perspective, jeeeeeeeeeez. I also found it so funny that Bruce Campbell was in this film for like 1 minute at the end of the film as one of the cops who arrested Craig and his ex-gf thinking that they committed all the murders. This movie has a pretty interesting ending where the nightmare is really the wrong people being accused of the crimes. Even the co-owner says it was them while he lays on the floor all bloodied up from being attacked out of defense. This is also sort of a claustrophobic movie in that it all takes place in one building, but it added to the dread of the movie of not being able to escape. I really like this movie and thought it was your typical silly 80s slasher and although I am bi I appreciated not seeing a single boob in this film. Don't get me wrong! A boob has its time and place, but idk, sometimes I'm like ok...we have enough of those films. An overall really fun watch!
Shudder rating: 4 out of 5 skulls
My rating: 4.2 out of 5 skulls. Creative kills, silly while not losing the plot, and had an ending I wasn't expecting.
