Krampus
Tis the season for another Christmas horror movie. Honestly, I haven't seen that many! I haven't seen this movie in a really long time. Probably not since it first came out like 10 years ago? I forgot how funny this movie was. Like it is definitely horror comedy, however, they did a great job with making Krampus and his little minions actually pretty creepy. Like that weird Jack in the box elongated snake puppet thing?? Wtf was that?? The elves also looked super creepy and probably the creepiest portrayal of them I've seen in a movie? Krampus is straight up scary lol. Like I would pee my pants if Krampus was standing right in front of me. Ok, now down to the meat and potatoes of this movie. Let's go over some things. First, Krampus came to the family because they were ungrateful and not in the Christmas spirit. As we know, Krampus takes while St. Nick is known to give. Little Max (I think that is his name?) has a whole letter about what he wishes his family had and it gets torn up after they all start fighting. I think it's like the next day when strange things start happening in the house. I will say that some of the parts in the middle of the movie and we were left to sort of conclude if the character was killed or not. Well maybe I'm mostly just thinking of the daughter who went to look for her bf. Unless I am not remembering the movie quite correctly (I watched last week), I think we are led to believe that Krampus attacked/took her. One by one everyone in the family is attacked and played tricks on. Then we get granny's confession that she wished the entire village to be gone and poof! They disappeared. Note: do not make granny mad around the holidays. Now the end of the movie is either very interpretable or maybe I didn't fully understand. Max wants to sacrifice his life to Krampus and his little minions, while Krampus opens up like a portal to Hell? Krampus then "captures" the family in a snow globe. Does this mean that the family is trapped in Krampus's universe? Does this mean Max was just dreaming all of this? I want to believe the first option more than the second. Like they are miniature world within Krampus's world with all of his other families trapped in globes. Either way, they got freaking Toni Collette to be in this film!
Shudder rating: 5 out of 5 skulls?? (I mean it is a good movie, but 5 skulls people??)
My rating: 4 out of 5 skulls. As I said...good movie, but I do not think it is worthy of a full 5 skull rating.
