Sinister 2

Not a terrrrible sequel, but pretty mid. Good thing we all watch it for those grainy snuff films! The dumbest part about this movie is that the kids had to put on a record while playing their little films?? Like why?? Movies do not typically show where the music is coming from so that was such a weird thing to spend time and details on. I do like that the movie follows the officer from the first Sinister movie and his investigation of the murders caused by Bagul. Not gonna lie, Bagul is scary! They did a good job making that dude as creepy as possible. Something about the lack of facial features does something to my brain. The officer finds the church where a series of murders happens as well as the new homeowners next to the church. I guess they got this property to escape an abusive situation in the previous marriage. I did like the snuff films in this sequel, but idkkkk...where they as good as the first one or am I just hating on sequels? I liked how the movie had the two siblings have completely different personalities and the Bagul kids were trying to recruit one of them by making the other jealous. I feel like you can either turn out to be exactly like an abusive parent or do everything in your power to be different and that was really shown in this movie. As for the process of stopping the series of murders caused by Bagul and the kid gang, that was a little confusing. The police officer originally goes to the house to burn it down and then sort of has a thing with the mom turning this dope into some temp father figure. The final showdown involved one of the kids (who acts like a prick just like his dad) being "chosen" by Bagul's gang and he makes a snuff film of his own family. The ritual begins as they are drugged from the Bagul sauce and the family members are set up in such a way where each one was going to be burned at a post individually. The kid lights the dad on fire first and he dies as Officer Dopey hits the kid with a car and he is just okay?? He gets the mom and the other son undone while the bad kid and the Bagul gang come after the survivors. Bagul eventually places his hand on the bad kid and he just kind of dissolves in grey implying that his soul was taken and he won't be making it out of the house that has started on fire. It seems like all is good and dandy but at the very end of the film we see that there is still activity from Bagul and then his face pops up at the very end implying that he is still very much alive and going to go on another rampage. I really hope they make a Sinister 3 in the future!!! I wanna see more of these kid snuff films and listen to creepy soundtracks!

IMDb rating: 4 out of 10 (damn, that was lower than I expected)

My rating: 6.5 out of 10 stars (it wasn't that bad, jeeze!)
