Scanners

Damn, ok I watched this movie like a few weeks back at this point so my memory of it is a bit vague (even after listening to a podcast and watching a YouTube recap lol). I do remember the unique ambiance of this movie. There were a lot of unsettling moments, and I really loved the special effects during one of the final scenes. That scene where the main guy's brother is trying to "absorb" him was prettttttty cool. This is considered an older movie at this point now and to think of what they had to do to make all the veins bulge the way they did and have the head explode like that was pretty talented. Another element I liked about the movie was that these people did not know why they had the scanning ability. I like the aspect of a premeditated power being fed into an unborn baby only to be studied afterwards. Scanning is a very interesting ability. Like it isn't quite just reading minds, but mind control and affliction of sensations are involved. I think telekinesis was involved too? I wish I wrote this review closer to my last viewing of the movie so I could remember more. Now, the very end was a little confusing and is left to some sort of interpretation. The brother who was doing the scanning is seen in the corner of the room after he like exploded saying that "they won" or something like that? So, Cameron transferred his whole conciseness to his brother during the duel they were having? I mean, sure you win as in you get to exist here on Earth more, but damn dude, you gotta live in that ugly man's body :(

My rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars (I thought a lot of parts in the middle were sort of boring but loved the scenes where things were actually going on. Good story overall.)
