Color out of Space
Here we go with another Nick Cage crash out of a character horror flick lollll I feel like he was crazy, yet tamer in this one for sure. Maybe because he was the dad, he had more of that serious demeanor then lost his shit when things got really bad (understandably). I honestly don't know that much about Lovecraft and had to do some research on the explanation of this film, but from what I understand, this movie is about a cosmic energy that lands on Earth and pretty much fucks shit up. Like it is able to manipulate time and matter and can also freaking fuse people together. Omg that scene with the son and the mom...I was not expecting that kind of chaos in this movie. I really thought the movie did a good job at making the hue of this cosmic energy creepy yet beautiful. I loved the hints of getting to see vibrant nature starting to sprout around the farm (then the next scene could be something like the cosmic energy completely infiltrating one's body). The wiccan daughter was a little confusing in my opinion. Like did she cast this thing down or was her magic just sort of this divisive element that worked with the cosmic energy through the film? Man, I feel bad for the family though (especially for the youngest son and the mother as mentioned earlier). I really loved that they put that in there. It was just enough of a shock factor to keep this thing crazy. I mean everybody except the dang hydrologist pretty much got absorbed into this cosmic energy. Perks of doing land surveys I guess?...I enjoyed this film a lot more than I thought I would. I was a little hesitant because one of my friends was not a fan and I'm surprised! Perhaps I am a peasant in my movie taste.
