The Mortuary Assistant

Ok finally getting to this review...life has been so crazy lately, but I've been watching movies while it goes crazy. I think this movie did a pretty decent job at sticking to the vibe of the game. Raymond was just as creepy (but a bit more aggressive in the movie I think?). This was a pretty fun game as well and my friend Nick streamed on Twitch for one of my birthdays. I can't believe he watched this without me! I made him rewatch it but still. The Rebecca Owens character was pretty decent as well but realllly oblivious. I like how they also included the computer from the game with some of the details. I just find little things like that make fans of the game go crazy. One thing I didn't like, however, was that they never went into the story of the main creepy dude with the smile. He's just kind of latched on to Rebecca and I don't know if it is another addiction trope or she just has it "cuz". I guess some things we just have to accept. I also did not like the ending...like is just gonna live in the freaking mortuary because if she leaves the smiling demon thing will latch back onto her? It doesn't really seem like a practical solution unless I am interpreting it all wrong. One thing I liked was that they did a good representation of Elizabeth in the basement as sort of the victim of latched on demon vaccine provider. Raymond is determined! I wasn't expecting this movie to be amazing or anything, but just a fun watch since the game was pretty fun. I think it could have been wayyyy cheesier so, yeah, as I said, it is a pretty good watch especially if you enjoyed the game. The game was definitely a creepy one and I really enjoyed watching it get played.

Shudder rating: 2 out of 5 skulls (I literally just checked and damn people must not like this movie! That's harsh)

My rating: 3.2 out of 5 skulls (wasn't bad but not amazing!)
